Course description

Coastal Zone Management (CZM) is the sustainable planning and regulation of coastal areas to balance environmental conservation, economic development, and community needs. It involves protecting coastal ecosystems, managing resources, preventing erosion, and mitigating climate change impacts. CZM aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of coastal regions while supporting livelihoods and biodiversity.

  • CO-1 : Able to analyse data and data management, Remote Sensing for Coastal Management and Geographical Information System (GIS) PO1, PO5, PO9
  • CO-2 : Thorough understanding of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Act, Coastal regulation zones for main land and islands PO1, PO5, PO9
  • CO-3 : Identifying Problems related to sectors such as tourism and fisheries in the ICZM Context PO1, PO5, PO9
  • CO-4 : Awareness on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): Principles and process PO1, PO5, PO9
  • PO1 : Knowledge enhancement: Enhanced knowledge on concepts, essential facts, basics, principles and theories relating to fishery biology, biodiversity and aquatic environment, aquaculture, fish nutrition, fish physiology, genetics and biotechnology, fish processing, fisheries engineering, fish microbiology, fishery extension, economics, and biostatistics.
  • PO5 : Environment and Sustainability: Understand the issues of environmental contexts and sustainable development.
  • PO9 : Ethics: Application of ethical principles and commitment to professional ethics and responsibilities.
