Course description

An Energy Storage System (ESS) stores energy for later use, improving efficiency and reliability in power supply. It includes technologies like batteries, flywheels, and pumped hydro storage to balance energy demand and supply. ESS plays a vital role in renewable energy integration and grid stability. Advancements in ESS enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

What will i learn?

• State the various parts of the battery and their functions.
• Describe the discharging and charging process of a lithium-ion battery.
• Describe the components of a fuel cell and explain the purpose of each one.
• Explain and analyse dynamic fuel cell behaviour.
• Understand - how fuel cells are used for everyday purposes: road, water and air transport vehicles, portable and stationary use.
